Frames of War – Film Tour reaches Pokhara

Pokhara, 2009 May 28: Launched on 11th of April from Hetauda, The ‘Frames of War’ Film Tour has since travelled to Lahan, Bhadrapur, Phidim, Ilam, Biratnagar, Dhankuta, Itahari, Gaighat, Janakpur, Birgunj, Kawasoti, Nepalgunj, Mahendranagar, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Sandhikharka, Butwal, Tamghas, Tansen, Syangja, Baglung, Beni and has now reached its 24th destination – Pokhara.
This extensively travelled documentary – Frames of War will be screened in Pokhara on 29th May at the local Udhyog Banijya Hall.
Frames of War is a 40-minute film made jointly by filmmakers Prem BK and Kesang Tseten. It profiles the civilian victims of Nepal’s conflict 1996 – 2006, and the photo exhibition tour of Kunda Dixit’s book ‘A People War’.
“The main objective of the film and the tour is non-violence. It also shows what war leaves behind for civilians to suffer and live with.” Says Kunda Dixit – author of A People War, who is also travelling with the tour. “Majority of the people who came to the show does not want violence of any kind.” Adds Kunda.
Kunda Dixit, also a seasoned journalist having experience in reporting war in Sri Lanka and Philippines, is sharing his experience in War and Peace Journalism, with local journalists, which they find as a great opportunity to learn about practising journalism in difficult time.
During this tour, more than 50,000 have already watched this film. It is expected that 10,000 more will see it as the tour proceeds to Damauli, Besisahar, Gorkha, Cahutara and Charikot before it is screened for a week in Kathmandu from 14 – 21 June at the Russian Cultural Center.
Entrance for the film screenings in all places is free. All interested are recommended to collect free entry passes from the local organisers in advance.
