Pokhara embrances Film Tour

Pokhara, May 30 : People walking out of Pokhara’s Udhyog Banijya Hall on Friday were seen in a different mood. They were returning after watching Yuddha Chitra –Frames of War that profiles the civilian victims of Nepal’s conflict 1996 – 2006, and the photo exhibition tour of Kunda Dixit’s book ‘A People War’.
“I had to bite my lips to control myself from crying. I could see others besides me doing the same to prevent themselves from the embarrassment.” Said poet Tirtha Shrestha after seeing the film. “I feel we in the cities had been privileged not to have faced the trauma many others had faced during war. But it seems those who need to understand this are still ignoring the message.” He added.
Launched on 11th of April from Hetauda, The ‘Frames of War’ Film Tour has since travelled to Lahan, Bhadrapur, Phidim, Ilam, Biratnagar, Dhankuta, Itahari, Gaighat, Janakpur, Birgunj, Kawasoti, Nepalgunj, Mahendranagar, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Sandhikharka, Butwal, Tamghas, Tansen, Syangja, Baglung, Beni and was screened in its 25th destination – Pokhara on 29th May at the local Udhyog Banijya Hall.
All 3 shows in this 700 seater auditorium went full house.
“We could not cater to the demand of an extra show as we had done in other places, due to our travel schedule.” Said tour coordinator, Arpan Sharma of nepa~laya.
Pokhara screening of the film was locally coordinated and organised by Sidhartha Club and Kaski Chapter of Federation of Nepalese Journalists.
