SC Orders Veep to Take Oath in Nepal

Kathmandu. Aug 24:The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday issue order to Vice-President Paramananda Jha to take fresh oath in Nepali language within a week. The SC has stated that he has to vacate his post if he did not do so.

A five-member full bench, comprising Justices Top Bahadur Magar, Ram Kumar Prasad Shaha, Kalyan Shrestha, Prem Sharma and Bharat Raj Upreti, unanimously issued the order.

The SC stated that the authorities — the President, Vice President and Office of the PM and Cabinet — did not pay heed to its July 24 verdict.

The bench observed the parties concerned did not accurately inform the apex court whether he would take fresh oath in Nepali and preparations were made for the oath ceremony.
